About The Author:-

This is the second book by Dr. Madhu Vajpayee. Dr. Madhu is an associate professor in the Department of Microbiology at AIIMS, New Delhi. She is currently looking after HIV National Reference Laboratory (NRL) at AIIMS. Apart from this book, she has written another book named Seeking Redemption which contains the story of a young medical student who is caught in an entangled web and adversity that makes her vanquish her fears while conquering life.

She has done a wonderful job with this book. One of the things that really impressed me was the way the author has written the book from the opposite gender. Each detail and event occurring in the book is well thought of and wonderfully put forward.

The Storyline:-

The book contains a story about fulfilling commitments and promises and about the ups and downs of life. It is a story highlighting the unpredictable story of the life of the lead protagonist, Dev Khanna, whose life takes a major turn when he receives a mysterious letter.

Dev's childhood was a rough road where he was deprived of love. He dreams of living in Melbourne and as he grows older he fulfills his dream. As the name of the book suggests, I Owed You One which highlights the debt of favor that Dev finds himself amidst. The book takes you through the various twists and turns that come along in Dev's life which is a well-done work by the author.

My Review:-

The various emotions, feelings, occurrences, and each and every part of the story are written with such finesse that it keeps the readers connected and hooked to the story. The plot of the book is very character-driven. The book starts on an interesting note and the pace remains constant. However, towards a particular part in the middle, the story gets a little slow.

I felt a bit disconnected towards the middle part. However, the story picks up its pace soon. The best part of the book is that it has a thrilling climax. It is sure to blow you away. The ups and downs and the battle that Dev fights with himself as well as with the world are wonderfully portrayed and the reader can easily connect themselves to Dev's situation. The multiple twists and turns in the story make it highly unpredictable.

The timelines in the book are nicely managed which does not confuse you because of several characters and multiple twists and turns. The story-line of each and every character mentioned in the book is justified with their own twists and turns.

The book contains the right amount of thriller, suspense, romance, and drama making it an interesting and entertaining read. The story is presented in a light and simple way. The language used is simple and reader-friendly which was something that I always look for in books. However, the content distribution among the various chapters was uneven which is something that can be improved upon.

I really enjoyed reading the book and would surely look forward to reading some more books from Dr. Madhu. If you enjoy fiction read, you should really pick this book.
