I was driving through the heavy rains when I saw her,
standing by the side of the road, drenched and shivering. My heart skipped a
beat as I pulled over and rolled down the window.
"Need a ride?" I asked, my voice barely audible
over the sound of raindrops pelting against the roof of my car.
She hesitated for a moment, rainwater cascading down her
face. With a grateful smile, she nodded and hurriedly got into the passenger
seat. Her wet clothes clung to her body and her eyes sparkled with a mixture of
relief and nervousness.

As we drove, we exchanged small talk. The car started to
feel cozy with the heater on. I learned that her name was Anu, and she had
been caught in the storm after her car had broken down. Her vulnerability
and the way she laughed at my silly jokes made my heart flutter. It felt
like fate had brought us together on this rainy night.
The rain continued to pour heavily making it harder to see ahead.
The road ahead seemed dangerous. Yet, amidst all this, my mind and heart
strangely felt calm. I knew I was not alone.
The rain tapping on the car roof mixed with a gentle Norah
Jones song on the radio created a peaceful atmosphere.
“So, where are you headed?” she smiled and asked.
“Oh, I am on my way home from a seminar on Learning Disabilities,”
I replied.
She seemed interested to know more. She shared that her niece
has some troubles at school and that she wanted to help her out.
As we continued to talk, the conversation shifted from
casual topics to more intimate ones. We spoke of our dreams, our fears, and our
past heartbreaks. We shared some laughter and some words of comfort. With each
passing mile, our connection deepened, and the car seemed to shrink, wrapping
us in our own little world.
Eventually, we arrived at her destination—a cozy little café
nestled in a quiet corner of town. We sat across from each other, hands wrapped
around warm mugs of coffee, as the rain continued to drum against the windows.
The café was filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee
and the soft murmur of conversations, but at that moment, it felt like we were
the only two people in the world.

Our eyes locked, and I couldn't resist reaching across the
table to brush a strand of wet hair away from Anu’s face. The touch was
electric, sending shivers down my spine.
Time seemed to have come to a standstill. It was just us,
in the midst of the storm outside and the chatters inside.
At that moment, I longed to hold her in my tight embrace.
But, I was afraid. We had just met, and I didn’t want to
make her feel uncomfortable.
She stared at me while I was deep in thought.
And before I knew it, she leaned in and planted a soft sweet
kiss on my lips.
Oh my fluttering heart, its joy seemed to have no bounds.
“Let’s get to know each other better. I would love to stay
in touch,” she said as we got ready to leave.
We exchanged numbers and hugged each other goodbye.
From that moment, our lives were intertwined.
The rainy night that brought us together became a symbol of the love we shared—a love that could weather any storm.
We went on countless
adventures, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Through the ups and
downs, we stood by each other, supporting and cherishing every moment.
Looking back, I realize that it was on that fateful night, driving through the heavy rains, that I found the love of my life, my wife Anu.
The raindrops, once a nuisance, became a sweet reminder of the magical
beginning of our journey together.
And even now, as we cuddle on the couch with a warm blanket,
listening to the soft melody of raindrops against the windowpane, I'm grateful
for that stormy night that led me to her.
